Upcycling

Local Resident

We re-purpose abandoned wood (e.g., discarded furniture, surplus timber) which might otherwise go into landfill. We encourage others to upcycle too, either by directly giving their unwanted wood to us or by joining our woodwork classes to learn to fix broken or transform old wooden furniture.

If you would like to contribute wood /old furniture to Wood That Works please email woodthatworkslondon@gmail.com. we may be able to arrange collection of a smaller local pick ups.

Discovering the Wood that Works family has been my main achievement throughout this pandemic. I always liked the idea of having a go working with wood but had never had the confidence to try it, it always seemed inaccessible, costly and pretty hardcore with all the heavy duty tools. I couldn't have imagined that this glimmer of an opportunity would appear after the darkness of the first lockdown, and aimed at women like me who were suffering from lack of confidence and isolated from friends and family, it was an absolute godsend.

The team is so welcoming and supportive, nothing is too much trouble or impossible; and they have given me the confidence and guidance to give quite complicated projects a go using tools that I would never have dreamed of using.
